Why generic rankings fail

Style: manual, automatic, or specialty
Manual — lower starting cost, no air compressor required, and Insta describes it as a good way to develop feel for pressure, dwell and temperature. Insta also notes hand-operated operators can approach automatic output over time.
Automatic — air-driven, temperature and pressure set numerically, consistency garment to garment. The trade is a compressor, its noise, its space and its maintenance.
Specialty — built for one job. The Insta 907 ($5,295.00) runs dual lower platens with a swinging upper; the Insta 780 Dual Shuttle ($10,795.00) carries manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic modes on one frame at 30–110 PSI.
Temperature and quality: the two that hide inside the price
Temperature is not just a maximum figure, it is whether the platen holds that figure everywhere for the full dwell, and how fast it recovers after opening. Insta specifies superior pressure and temperature distribution across the entire platen and significantly faster heat recovery than other machines — the second is a throughput number, because recovery time sets your ceiling on a long run.
